All the new and upcoming characters that are due to appear in future Genshin Impact updates, alongside a lore flavor and their release date.
Want to know about new Genshin Impact characters? During each new update, there’s usually at least one brand-new playable character introduced to the roster. They typically appear on event banners with increased drop rates, including one five-star character and three four-star characters.
While we know which characters are likely to appear on the next Genshin Impact banners, some characters featured in this guide might not be playable right now, but they can still be found in Genshin Impact. We’ve also included some characters who are rumored to join the free PC game down the line, but may not have an in-game model just yet. While none of this information is official until Hoyoverse says otherwise, here’s a round-up of all the current rumors and speculation.
The new and upcoming Genshin Impact characters are:
Genshin Impact 6.1 characters
Nefer
First officially revealed in the Nod-Krai Ecology Teaser, Nefer’s name is most likely a reference to Queen Nefertiti from ancient Egypt. When talking to Ineffa, it’s revealed that Nefer owns the Curatorium of Secrets in Nod-Krai. Nefer’s Dendro abilities were showcased in the Genshin Impact 6.1 livestream, summoning shadow-shades that deal Lunar-Bloom damage to nearby enemies.
Upcoming Genshin Impact characters
Durin
Datamined from the Genshin Impact 6.2 update, we now know a lot more about the five-star Durin and his leaked kit. Durin is a sword-wielder and uses a Pyro Vision, utilizing his abilities to burn down enemies. Based on what we’ve seen from the beta build, Durin will pair well with practically everyone, possibly replacing Mavuika if he turns out to be top tier. Despite sporting a pair of purple wings, Durin still relies on his glider to get around Teyvat.
Jahoda
Jahoda is most likely a four-star character set to arrive in Genshin Impact 6.2 based on the most recent beta build. Said to be an Anemo healer, Jahoda has already appeared in the game as an NPC. Ineffa explains in-game that Jahoda is an expert bounty hunter, and we can clearly see she’s a big fan of cats. Both Durin and Jahoda were officially revealed on October 24, showing off the character’s key art.
Varka
Said to be the strongest person in Mondstadt, Varka is the Grand Master and Knight of Boreas, a subsection of the Knights of Favonius. As with most of the upcoming Genshin Impact characters, there’s no telling when Varka is likely to become available. He’s currently away on an expedition, leaving Jean in charge of the Knights of Favonius.
Varka has been referenced by several characters over the course of Genshin Impact’s story, and thanks to the 6.1 livestream, we’ve finally got a look at his in-game model. We can’t confirm it just yet, but it looks like he’s at least as big as Wriothesley.
Dainsleif
Dainsleif, the Bough Keeper, was officially announced by Hoyoverse during the 2020 Tokyo Game Show – however, no release date was attached. His voice actor has been announced, but we have no indication of when he might arrive. Dainsleif is from Khaenri’ah, an underground realm that is not part of Teyvat itself – so perhaps one day in the future we’ll meet Dainsleif when we explore his homeland.
These are all the new and upcoming Genshin Impact characters that are due to turn up in the gacha game sometime in the future. We’ll add new candidates as we discover them. Don’t forget to claim the latest Genshin Impact codes for free Primogems.
